Never heard any chiming on my modem.  What modem did you have installed?  Are you sure the chiming is coming from the modem?

Yes, any slight activity on the wifi network will cause blinking.  As long as you secured your wifi network with a GOOD password, I wouldn't worry about it.

 

3) Are the blue lights on the boxes for each TV supposed to stay on after you turn the TV off?

Yes, as long as the box hasn't entered Power Saver mode. You can adjust Power Saver options in the settings.  X1 boxes are always connected and have some power due to being able to start recordings.
