go to xtv.comcast.net and login with your xfinity username/pass
accept the terms and conditions.
the cloud dvr will then begin recording the same thing your home DVR records. You can make a hot recording by tuning for example to TV land and hitting record. when the red LED goes off the recording has finished and can be accessed on any lap/desktop or by installing on any apple/android device the xfinity TV app (free).
The real advantage now is that if you have to replace your DVR your recordings that are on the cloud will not be 'lost'.
last, the model DVR you have I believe is one they don't give out any more as it only has 5 available tuners. If you get a newer version (not P001 = pace 001) you will have 6 tuners to use to record on at one time or record 5 and watch a channel live. While recording 6 at one time you can watch an ondemand program or any recorded show on your DVR.
Hope you have success in setting up the cloud DVR. It really is good to have a backup and it is free.
