X1 box:
1. It cannot shutoff. It can only go into sleep mode. Either you set the timer which could go to sleep during a long program like sports, or you turn off the timer in which case you must press the blue button on the front. Whos idea was this? The boxes are designed to staty on 24x7. Power Save mode is minimal compared to ON mode. You can also enter Power Save mode by enabling Control Panel in settings and use your LEFT Arrow and follow the prompts.
4. Cannot stop the viewing of a program, only pause. The remote does not have a stop button. Really? Can someone explain this? Live TV would require PAUSE. If viewing a recorded asset, then EXIT is your STOP button.
6. The guide is so slow... much slower than the old box. The reason is because the old box stores all information locally as long as it was plugged in. The X1 box must download ALL information from the server for every press of the remote so the response takes longer. Whos idea was this? This is the streaming mentality where everything should be downloaded which adds more overhead to an already overused network. Poor signal levels will cause the lag you are describing. WIth good signals, the guide is very quick.
7. The old guide allows you to see a single channel by pressing the guide button twice. You can then scroll through all programs on the same channel by pressing 'page down'. The X1 guide cannot show a single channel. You must either press the right arrow which shows five channels hour by hour, or press 'fast forward' which jumps 24 hours and then you must arrow left or right to see different times. This is major BAD. Again, whos idea was this??? With the guide open, left arrow to channel and press INFO. You will then be viewing the next 2 weeks worth of that channel's programming.
