Switch between shows on 6 (hard drives?) to view channel

We just had the X1 Cloud(?) (arris AR AX013ANM) installed and a selling feature was that this unit could record 6 shows at once.

Question 1): Is that recording 5 shows and watching a non-recorded show?

Question 2): Are we able to scroll amoung the six (hard drives?) that are on different channels but not recording the show? We can do this with our Tivo XL4 Premier and it's a great feature.
