you can unplug your DVR and record when not recording something else and 'make' a cloud only recording. It plays much like an on-demand (high latency on changing play/rewind mode, no motion on ff or rev mode, etc. The little cloud shows next to word 'DVR on timeline or in upper left corner if you have on the 'transport' comcast labs option.
