Re: re Xfinity X1 TV Remote Control APP = NOT the "Xfinty Go App

Yes, you can go to McDonald's or any place with a public wifi, and you should be able to do the test with your tablet.  Good idea filming your TV with a camera to see the changes.  Just make sure your camera has enough recording capacity to do the test.

I doubt Comcast CSRs will release the MAC address of the device used to connect through the X1 TV Remote app, and I have found no way of finding this information myself.  There is a Comcast Security group (https://constantguard.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse/) (888-565-4329). Maybe they might be able to get that information for you, or point you to the proper group that could help.

Good luck.

thanks for the Info I would have done that but I don't have or use a cell phone - I am  69 years old..

I do have a tablet but I believe I need to be away from my house to test it -- I mean I. need to be away from my house WiFi signal and using a hot spot like at McDonalds or someplace is that correct ? I will turn on a video camera of my TV while I am out and when  I get back home I am sure from yout test I will see the channels changing and kt following the other ommands I input into my tablet x1 t remote APP the video.

Twiiter Comcast reps are no better, I got very curse responsew from them inre to this problem and they never addressed the erroneous info Iwas given by two different chat reps

one more question is there any way to get the MAC adress of a device that was used to send emails or text messages if they were masked / ghosted. I have tried to get the IP but can't because of privacy regs

THA KS AGAIN FOR YOUR HELP I cant wait until my 2 years is up to drop Comcast ...
