Audio starts

Video loads a few percent, stalls at some higher value -- 25% or so

Audio continues, no video -- stalled

If I press the Xfinity button on remote, the video briefly flashes on, then goes to the xfinity menu

Select Apps and Netflix again, and select the same show

Video and audio starts as expected, and in sync

Very consistent behavior --- 75% of the time.

Internet speed test shows 90+ Mbps

Solution??

Have you tried resetting the netflix App?  Press A on the remote then select "reset netflix"

FixService, I don't mean to make light of this but why don't you just go to your local service center and trade in the STB that you currently have for one that has a functioning hard disc?  This is fascinating to read about, however, it seems that no one else has the issues that you seem to.

My favorites are intact. Has anyone tried using DVR sync or sysem refresh? If that doesn't work then you'll have to rebuild the list of favorites.

I had a little downtime this afternoon so I decided to compare Grace and Frankie on Netflix between X1, my Roku Ultra and my Sony 4K Blu-ray player.

My conclusion is obvious:

1. The X1/Netflix interface is slower. In some cases it is MUCH slower.
2. The X1/Netflix response to remote commands is slower but not horrible.

3. The X1/Netflix picture quality is significantly "softer".
4. My Roku and Sony offer Dolby Digital Plus audio which X1/Netflix does not.

Sorry but every minute that passes Comcast falls further behind and I spend more time searching for a better experience.

If your box used to show blue and it is still showing green, try doing a power-cycle to see if this will force the new firmware that fixes it. Your box usually will do these updates on it's own at night. Can anyone confirm that it has been corrected? -FC

Sorry FC,

The light is still green on my XG 2 using firmware 2.11p8s1. DVR is still OK

I might need to try and push an update to your box then. What is a good time to do this?

No Rush FC. The XG 2  still functions. When the mac address is included in the next update for  the system.

Turned in old dvr box with multiple outlets (hdmi, rca,, component.) Wed. 7/19/2017 for new x1 with only hdmi and rca. Tv is older RCA model but has multiple inputs. Threre days of back and forth with customer service, who were generalyy pleasant but ineffective. Service tech was due between 9am and 12noon today Friday the 21st. Have been waiting for 11 hours now and the last cust. rep said that the tech is still coming. have not received a single call from anyone after I was told I would receive several throughout the past three days. I did receive a survey call which self terminated after I entered 1's for the first two questions. Office is closed weekends so I can't even get my old box back.

Same thing happens to me.  It's been going on for at least three months.  Probably occurs about once out of four times when watching Netflix.

Re: X1 Audio Dropouts (again)

Hello,

I wanted to chime in, we also have issues with X1 and Video/Audio dropouts. This is in the Seattle area.

It seems to happen in the evening mostly. We go through periods where the screen will go black, come back on 4-5 seconds later. Both Audio and Video cut out. Sometimes it will go dark for 1-2 minutes before coming back on. Of course we have called Comcast many times. They always do the typical, send a reset signal, and tell us that everything on their end looks ok and they don't have any service issues in the area.

We are using HDMI.

Our Setup:

X1 box to 2017 Pioneer AVR Receiver using HDMI. HDMI from the Pioneer to a 2017 LG Oled 65" (B6). All the HDMI cables have been replaced, and the amp has the latest specs. TV and AVR have the latest firmware.

We had a technician come out and determine that the signal from the main hub outside to the house was having issues, so they replaced that coax cable about two months ago. The problem continued even though the technicians say the signal coming to the box is fine now.

The technician came back and replaced the X1 box and also said it was likely the HDMI cable from the X1 box to the TV. I had doubts. I agreed to replace the cable. The new cable is a new 4K compatible cable and the problems continue.

The issue happens on multiple channels and if we rewind, it will play through, so it appears its signal being lost.

This is getting frustrating.

Your error you are getting (case) on the DVR display is because you have the cable coax from the wall going to the tv input. It should be going to the input on the DVR and a HDMI cable going to the HDMI input on the tv. This will solve your problem

Update: Well, this morning I rebooted the box, as I try to remember to do weekly, and the blue light is back!

As the title says, I am having this problem where auto tune HD is working on the 800+ channels, but not on 1400+ channels. I can manually enter and access the 1400+ channel (e.g. 1485 for cooking channel HD), but if I use the Voice control it brings me the SD and doesn't auto tune if it is a one of 1400+ channel, but it will work if it is one of the 800+.

Anyone else with that problem? And does anyone has a solution. I tried rebooting the X1 and also doing a diagnostic, to no avail. Before I contact support I am curious to know whether this is a known issue.

Thanks.

A

are you selecting a 4 digit channel that is in SD?

To create a demonstration cloud recording that you can then view on your TV... find a program that is about to begin on the guide and set it to record (perhaps a 30 minute show on TVLand). Once it is set, unplug your DVRs in the home. Wait until the program finishes recording and then plug in the DVR's and check your recordings and you will find that recorded show in the listings (won't know it is 'just' cloud DVR. select it and then play it. when the screen is just picture (no DVR progress bar) press the OK key while the recording is playing. in the upper left corner you will see the cloud icon before the letters "DVR".

Let me put aside the 720p question for a moment, as I think it's gotten enough attention, and I think most rational people agree it's obviously a bad thing.

Check out Episode 1 of Salvation on CBS On Demand, on your Xfinity X1 box.  It's a jerky mess.  Other shows are 90% fine - this one cannot be played smoothly.  This leads me to believe that there is something wrong with the video decoder software installed on the X1 box.  As much as I hate the resolution issue, this is the one that makes it unwatchable to me.

My wife likes to watch Guy's Grocery Games On Demand. It's a blocky mess and trickplay lags so far behind it's useless. There's a lot wrong with Comcast's quality in general.

I watched episode 1 and it was not jerky.  Maybe you have some kind of connection issue.

X1/Netflix obviously can't compete with those other sources as you point out.  I wonder how TV's are broken down for X1 customers; how many have SD, how many have HD (like mine) and how many have UHD and above.

I would just like to point out that the video problems experienced with the X1 cable-box do not show up on my Cisico RNG150N cable-box.

The video viewed on all 720p cable stations is all acceptable. This morning the OPEN (gulf) is being shown live on NBC (1080i station). Since this is a local station I can view it on cable (811) or over the air on 11.1. The cable signal output is still (1920 x 1080)/60i. The picture is better than when viewed on Gulf cable channel yesterday at 720p.

However; the signal from cable today on channel 811 gives a picture equal to viewing over the air on 11.1. I am assuming the cable video is still supplied under 1080i MPEG2. The problem is with the X1 cable-box evidently. I am using my 2015 Samsung curved 3D UHD television for the comparisons.

I would like to add that while I am watching NBCSP (877) for Tour De France I just checked the signal received by my tv. It is (1920 x 1080)/60i. Evidently the channel was recently moved from 720p back to 1080i or maybe left that way. Two or three cable channels were left 1080i along with local 1080i channels. Since NBC and Comcast are the same family that is something I thought might happen after the initial conversion from MPEG2 to MPEG4.

I had a tech visit for an issue with my Xfinity Home System.  Before the tech came to the door, she ran a scan on my system and identified an issue with one of my three X1 DVR's.  It was a low SNR.  I had used a short coax cable to that box because the coax couldn't reach it.  Once she replaced that coax one of hers, the SNR came back into spec.

I hope your tech is as good as mine was.  But get one out there..
