X1 is a unique combination of software, hardware, cable service connectivity and internet connectivity.
Conventional and traditional thinking does not apply to this gobbledygook known as X1.
The only way to troubleshoot X1 is to step outside of normal thinking and use the process of elimination.
My X1 service has nearly flawless for 2.5 years now. Anyone curious as to why???

Ha! If only that were so. I have seen countless examples that contradict that statement. It's a common fallacy that experienced SW engineers have learned the hard way. Many simple rudimentary SW bugs are indeed repeatable; and sure, HW can be intermittent. But complex SW defects can produce VERY intermittent behavior. For example, consider a very common defect - the pointer overflow. Athough the overflow itself may consistently occur, the EFFECT of the overflow may be extremely intermittent due to the dependency of the data values referenced by the pointer. The overflow may result in non-destructive behavior 99% of the time until some specific data value is overwritten - only then will the the incorrect behavior be exposed. Stack problems can also be notoriously intermittent.
