I own a house, not live in an apartment or condo.

I have 3 different boxes and it happens on all of them.  None of them are the X! high end boxes - 2 are just for digital starter and 1 is just so I can get basic cable on a TV.

Can I seriously be the only person this is happening to?? It is getting worse, not better.

Re-attach all your coax connections first.

Audio and video problems mean when the signal for the channel you are trying to watch is too weak or has too much noise, most likely due to a poor connection between the cable box and Comcast's network.

Troubleshoot by checking all connectors for corrosion and tightness, and by looking for damaged coax cable. Running the cable through a surge protector, a defective splitter, or too many splitters can cause signal problems as well. If there is an amplifier in the line make sure it's getting power.

If you can't find the problem, call them at the phone number on your bill or 1-800-Comcast, or chat with them using the TV Support option at https://support.xfinity.com/chat. Ask them to check the account setup and send a refresh signal to the box. If they can't fix the problem remotely, insist they send a tech out to identify the cause and correct it.

If the tech finds bad coax, splitters, amplifiers, or connections in your home (even if Comcast originally supplied them) you'll probably have to pay for the visit unless you have or sign up for their Service Protection Plan (https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/service-protection-plan, about $6/mo) and keep it for at least 60 days. If the trouble is due to a faulty Comcast cable box/DVR/digital adapter or anything outside your home, you shouldn't be charged.

Update...I woke up to a crisp blue screen again today!    What’s the next step?   Remember, never had this issue with DISH tv.

Next thing I would do is schedule a tech visit.

I have NO splitters in ANY of my two 4k boxes, X1 DVR, and two companion X1 boxes.

Splitters should not be used with the X1 system.

Thanks Robert - I'll have to look up MoCA issue - as I have no idea what that is.  I think it's the cable coming into the house - it is the original cable and to be honest I don't even know how it is coming into the house since we've added on so much - adding rooms/walls.  We are looking at having our "wiring" for cable organized/rerun since we do have so many different cable running from the exterior box - it's a mess.

It's crazy how some days it works and other days it doesn't - box hasn't worked for two days but it's working today! So crazy!

Could be a loose coax connection somewhere; I have had to go in the attic to tighten the coax connections on the amp Comcast installed.

I moved your question to the X1 board; they are more familiar with the Xi5 wifi issue.

Try what Robert has suggested.... if that does not clear the issue, call into Comcast and request a TECH onsite to evaluate the low signal condition and make the necessary repairs to that location.....  it can be simply a bad wire, bad crimp, bad splitter, bad connector etc....  Depending on your setup and the number of devices, you may need a zero loss amplifier installed to assist the signal to that location.   Let the TECH onsite do the evaluation and make the repairs.

I have tried installing this box myself twice now, but it continuously freezes whenever I reach the "Loading X1 apps on your TV" screen. I watched a video on YouTube where this guy plugged in his coaxial cable from the box into his modem. I have not tried this method yet, I have only tried plugging in my coaxial cable from the box into a splitter. Those of you who have this specific box, how did you establish connection with the coaxial cable? Did you plug it into your modem? Or did you plug it in to a splitter. I just want to try and resolve this issue before I have to send this back and get a different box because two Xfinity agents told me that the box may be defective.

If you've gotten that far, it's hooked up right. But if it can't get any further it may be defective

That is absolutely not true.

The boxes are meant to stay on, are you turning them off?

Moca levels (how the boxes communicate) are out of spec. Unplug everything, plug in the dvr and then plug in the others to reestablish the moca connections

Wirelessly it still needs to talk to the XB3( that's where the software to run the xi5 is located), wired you could use a switch or power line adapter. I don't think what you proposed in #5 will work .

Thank you BruceW I will probably get them on the phone because I did a chat with them before and they sent a refresh code and had me unplug all my devices and it worked for about an hour and went back to the way it was.    Thank you again!

I do not wish to turn the box off but when I just press the TV off button on my remote in turns the TV off then the little box goes off.  I don't understand why it does this.  The box is a very small one with the code XiD-P on the back if that means anything to you.  Thanks for your help!  I also tried disconnecting and reconnecting everything but the result was the same.

We have had over 20 Xfinity technician visits to address picture freeze. The last tech was a "lead tech". He was able to improve the freeze problem by removing equipment that previous Xfinity tech installed. This tech told my Comcast technicians are poorly trained. It's time for me to schedule another tech appointment.
