tune to that channel and if it is having problems (or when it is 'acting up') call 800-Comcast and select TV and ask the agent to run the Internal Troubleshooting Guide Einstein. They may be able to tell from the internal logs if the signal is low on that channel. If not, a local tech can come to the home and find out what the issue is and get it fixed.

is there a way to stop the cable box from going into, power saving mode, when I push the all of button. The tv goes off and stays off but the cable box comes back on during the night.

Swap it out at your convenience, or let us know if you need assistance getting a tech out. That software isn’t going to load

I went into settings, power. We’ll see what happens tonight.

X1 New Box Blur Help

I have an older 1080P Samsung LCD 52 inch, and have been very happy with the Comcast picture quality and motion handling for several years.  It was a top of the line $3500 TV when it came out.   My excellent Arris AX013-ANM died last weekend.   It’s the black box with a clock and blue power button on the right.  Looks like the XG1v3 picture on the site.

I went into my local office expecting they would have a newer better model but they gave me the exact same arris model I had, new sealed in plastic.    I hooked it up and there was major lag in all the menus.   Took forever to start a saved program.   The motion was much worse than my old one.    I watch a lot of sports and anytime the players moved in basketball and hockey.  They are fuzzy/blurry and you can’t read their names on the jersey.  The blur seems to fade in and out when they speed up and slow down.   There is no blur when they stop running or the camera is zoomed in close.

I took it back and got another same exact model and it was the same problem.   I called tech support a few times and found out about the new Arris Model Xg1v4, which they shipped to me.     The smaller grey one with no clock or power button.

This XG1v4 has much faster menu system, but also has this same exact motion blur problem as the older Arris AX013 replacements  they gave me.  I have tried changing settings to 1080p, 1080i, and 720p and it’s the same issue

I am so bummed because my 3-4 year old box was perfect.   Do you think  they changed something in the recently manufactured boxes that cause this problem?    I highly doubt something technical went wrong with my wiring or outside at the exact same time my box died.    If so, what could cause this motion blur on the players in sports?  Any advice would be helpful as I watch a ton of sports and can’t live with it.

Re: The problem is not the XFINITY XG1v4 TV Box, IT'S THE SHIPPED HDMI CABLE!

FWIW, when I received my X1v4-A box I was suspicious of the Comcast-supplied HDMI cables and didn't use them, but instead used my own HDMI 2.1 cables (Echogear). Even with the best possible cables, I was dissappointed with the clarity of the image. Lots of edge fuzziness, lack of color depth, and artifacts.

I was able to get some improvement by tweaking the settings on my Sony 55A1E TV.  High-end Sony TVs have pretty sophisticated and aggressive image processing, which I suspected may be interfering.  When I turned off some settings (Clarity/noise reduction), the image somewhat improved.  I also warmed up the color, as the color on the 4K/Best Available was cooler and duller than on the 1080P setting. Looks pretty good now.

Worth a try, if you haven't already.

Can the Eaton CHSPCABLE surge protector be used with Comcast Xfinity?

I am asking specifically about the Eaton CHSPCABLE surge protector, available for ~$42 from depot.

X1 self kit, not a 4g box, should I install?

I got a new UHD 4G TV a week and a half ago and was considering the new 4G box.

I don't currently have X1 just an HD set-top box

A message popped up on my TV saying I would be eligible for an X1 self install kit.

I went ahead and ordered, it came yesterday, but the set-top box is not the  xg1v4.

Should I install the  upgrade to X1 with this equipment now, try and get a 4G box later,  or take it all back to the store and request a 4G box.

Second question ,

I own my own modem and would like to continue to .

Am I going to be forced to rent a Comcast modem for the X1 service

It's up to you, if you don't have a 4K Netflix subscription, it won't matter much.

All you did was swap boxes, your modem has no bearing on how the X1 platform works.

You shouldn't run cable through any surge protector. They don't play nice with signal levels, moca, etc. It's your house though and you can try it if you want.

Thanks

There is some content available through my Amazon Prime

I am also considering getting Netflix

Also looking forward to the feature, as I'm sure new content will become available.

I'm wondering what my best bet is to get the 4G box,  just order one from one of you here, or try my luck at the local Comcast store

There's no Amazon access through the X1 boxes

If you want to try and get a 4K dvr sent to you post here

Does it matter if it is activated on an analog TV then later switched to an HD TV?
