Very long thread ... not much progress. Issue is incompatibility between Sony Bravia/Android and Comcast X1 box.

 

I am going to try a few new things, but a quick note: you don’t need to reboot the X1 box each time. Just unplug the HDMI cable ... count to 10 ... plug it back in.

A streaming program can't be recorded from the beginning.  It's a system limitation.

It is to prevent screen burn-in.  If absolutely no signals from the remote are received in 5 hours, the box goes to screensaver mode.

If you are using the X1 box power button, there is no need to do that; the X1 system is designed to be on 24/7.

If you can't find it in the menu or options or google, the answer would be no.

Stuttering or Lag on certain channels

Over the last few months I have noticed that certain channels lag or stutter. Almost, like frames are dropping so movement isn't smooth. I have a X1 DVR box and two remote boxes. I don't notice it as much on the DVR box as I do on the Satellite boxes. Note, I don't see any pixelation or sound issues, just the stuttering of frame rates.

 

Things I have checked:

  1. Called Comcast and had them run a signal test. Came back ok.
  2. Ran both restarts and total resets from my local boxs
  3. Used a process I found online to check the signals on the box and they seem in spec.
  4. Channels that exhibit this behavior the most are the CW, Food Network, MTV.

Should I swap out all of the hardware, or call a tech out to check the signals within the house?

 

I'm in the Frederick, MD area if that helps.

 

Any advice is appreciated.

 

 

Thumbnails not loading?

Hello All,

                   Is anyone else having an issue with the thumbnails not loading? I noticed the issue on 3.23.18.

For you > Just recorded > at least 1 of the thumbnails would be grayed out

Recently watched > At least 1 thumbnail is grayed out

Movie/Series info > Cast & Crew > At least 1 thumbnail is grayed out

People also watched > Same result

 

If you select the grayed out thumbnail then select a working thumbnail, the grayed-out thumbnail would disappear.

It appears to be a backend issue that has reoccured for me.

 

Is the thumbnail scrapper having issues? I have already rebooted and system refreshed but that didn't work.

I don't have any inside information, but Comcast has maintained a consistent interface for X1 from the beginning.

So to close this out - a few days later, I noticed the TV had configured the HDMI input as COMCAST.  Not sure why it took so long?  But all is back to normal now.

Deleted recrding

I just became aware a cherished recording was deleted from my DVR. I don’t know when it was deleted but it is not in the recently deleted area.

the recrding must have been deleted due to disc space. I really hope there is away to get this recording back. It was 2017 Rockies home opener so it can’t just be searched.

i can’t believe that there isn’t some kind of warning that recordings will be deleted if space isn’t freed up.

The recording options are given when  you set a recording

You can set it to save for 1 year.

 

Recodings from a user can only be recovered if the recording is in the trash bin

If you need assistance getting a tech out let us know, all your equipment is fine. The levels that you can check through the box are just the interior docs is levels, not specific channel/frequencies.

Yes, the power-saving feature happens based on a time period I set in settings... not from any button. The question is about the button.

Why is that the way it functions? That seems nonsensical. All buttons work for the TV except for the "OK" button?!

the 'all power' button does not affect the set top box. if you have turned on the current Comcast labs HDMI setting, then the TV sends a notice to the set top box which then goes into power save mode.
