XiD-P randomly losing connection?

$

I've been having issues with my Pace XiD-P from time to time. Sometimes while watching TV or when turning on the TV I will get "No video signal". If I unplug the power from the XiD-P and then plug it back in then the cable box will work and I can change channels. I've also tried rebooting the cable box through the Xfinity help page and it doesn't do anything (box won't reboot).

V 1.14 PXD01ANI

Pace HDuDTA

09.08.24833775

Signal: Good

Receieving Data: Yes

Channel Map Available: Yes

MAC address: 12:BF:60:72:30:30

I want to rule out it being a cable box problem before I think about getting the TV repaired or replaced.

that is being used as a DTA (digital transport adapter). all the video you see on the device is delivered by streaming. have you tried another live outlet to see if the device works there?

Xi5 wireless box freezes 5-6 times a day - error code RDK-03087

We moved and set up new Xfinity service on 2 new Samsung TVs and an old Westinghouse TV in Jan 2019.  By the end of Feb 2019, one of the 3 TVs - the Samsung TV used the most in the Family Room - freezes about 5-6 times a day starting around 7pm usually.  The screen goes black and if you wait long enough, the error code RDK-03087 pops up saying "having trouble connecting to wifi" It happens with both live TV and recorded TV from DVR.  The only thing that ever works is unplugging and then replugging in the one box.  We lose any live TV we were watching.  Unacceptable. The box is always warm or even hot to the touch. A TV with a slightly different type of box that is located even farther away from the gateway works fine. Our high speed internet and landline phone are fine with rarely a  problem.  On 2/27/19, we had a good tech come out and said there were nationwide problems with these boxes and Comcast.  He tested all our signals and found our signal strength to be very good so that is NOT the problem.  We kept hoping Comcast would resolve this.  NOT.  So...we called Comcast two days ago to set up yet another tech appointment and the phone rep suggested a new HDMI cable.  We bought a top of the line cable today and since everything seemed fine at 7pm, when Comcast called for the 3rd time to confirm our appointment, we declined because we thought the new HDMI cable fixed it.  WRONG.  At 7:40pm, 9:50pm, and 10:15pm, it froze.  Of course we lost our scheduled tech appointment tomorrow.  The other two TV boxes are not used much but have never frozen.  However, our bedroom TV has spontaneously turned on by itself twice this week! Crazy.  We are utterly dismayed with Comcast TV service.  It's dismal and we are NOT getting the TV service we are paying for through our HOA - we also pay extra for more Preferred package.  We are going to LOUDLY complain to our HOA and we want to switch to ATT fiber optic instead like we had in Atlanta.  Comcast clearly has known issues with these boxes and the signal.  We want a new wireless box just to be sure we didn't get a lemon.  However, we live in an area where only a tech can deliver a replacement box.  The nearest store that has one available for us to swap on our own is a 90minute drive away.  How convenient...NOT.  Furthermore, I read on these forums that other customers who experience the same thing and have the boxes and even the gateways swapped out still experience this after a few months.  Comcast should be ashamed.  ATT Fiber is superior to Xfinity.  If anyone has a solution for our constantly freezing xi5 wireless box and error code RDK-03087, please let us know.  It would be greatly appreciated.  This is just so disappointing. And we have never experienced a company that calls 3 times the day before a tech appointment with a live human being just to confirm we still want the appointment.  I wish we had not talked to the rep this evening and cancelled our appointment tomorrow.

is this an xi5 or xi6 wireless device? do you have any other wifi device (like an AP, wifi extender, etc)? what other equipment do you have (set top boxes)?

This does work, but as a later post mentions it will look like it is changing channels or going to previous. I selected a previously recorded program and verified it works. Will try exit 3 times and 0015 to see what happens. What threw me off was when it switched channel and looked like nothing happended.  Hope this helps...

Xi6 color is horrible

I just upgraded from the XiD to the Xi6 and the color is horrible - washed out like crazy. I have a plenty fast connection and even tried ethernet just in case, but I mean, look at the difference.

On the left: My 4k Roku Premier Streaming Box playing a 4k YouTube video
On the right: The Xi6 Box playing the same 4k YouTube video via the YouTube app. (But it's not just the app. Regular TV is washed out like this too.

I don't have any other locations I can try. There is a dedicated line coming from the service box outside the house into this room. The living room (main box) was recently replaced and installed by a tech. Our previous X1 box didn't have the DVR function. And during that time I still had issues with my XiD-P randomly not displaying unless I unplugged it and plugged it back in.

Voice Commands not working .. solved read to get answer no one else gives you including tech support

Voice Cmmands hasnt been working for weeks ..

it would activate I would hear a click and at top of remote brief flash of Blue light so I know it was being activated .. tried repairing with TV it did not work suffered from this for weeks till decided to google for a fix ..seen literally hundreds of people with issue and other then replacing remote no one seemed to have an answer ..

Had a new spare remote so tried pairing it and worked for everything except voice ...  finally checked remote settings for battery life .. 0%  been getting warnings for long time but since remote still worked never bothered replacing figured when it stopped I would replace then .. took a new set of batteries replaced in old remote and voice now works .. poped same new batteries into spare new remote that was paired wwith reveiver earlier and also worked ..

Bottom line voice needs more power then all other functions in remote if voice doesnt work check batterly level and replace as needed ... for the LOVE of god how stupid must a tech line support at comcast be if at no time did they ask you to check battery level ? or how about if you press voice and it doesnt get the input why dont they have a reply onscreen "we didnt quite get that ? chack battery charge level if below XXX replace then try again ?   how hard is it for a company to actually do a simple task ?  and at no time trying to find a solution on the entire internet did I find anyone saying check battery chage level ? is the entire world simply stupid ? I knew my batteries were low was simply trying to eek the last life out of them since they were working fine for everything else even when showing 0%

Re: DVR Recoring Reruns Despite Setting for New Episodes Only

Would it not be a smart thing for comcast to REQUIRE a network to label a show correctly as new or repeat .. run into issues like this for years over tons of shows  and not by accident where a network will specifically relable repeat shows as in "last" season to show up on your DVR to drum up anticipation for the coming release of the "new " season

this is not oversight not error but manipulation ... thousands of my shows / movies I have marked as SEEN get routinely unmarked as seen all the time which is highly annoying .. If I invest 20 miutes marking all first 7 seasons of episodes of game of thrones as SEEN .. get very mad when a month later they all are no longer marked

Had it ever occured to anyone ? that a lot of people now have home entertaiment setups and gaming consoles and that even a modern box with no hard drive but has a fan to prevent overheating ?

might simply be placed inside an entertainement cent ontop of a reveiver or game console it getting all the ambient heat from that other unit and that is why the fan is running ?

simply rearrange so that the unti creating the most heat is at top of the entertainment center or outside with bettwer air flow ?

replacing unti after unit without asking these very basic questions is simply unexcuseable .. if a fan is running it is because a sensor says it is too hot .. looking for the cause of the heat seems to be a step 1 process ? not send a tech to house .

sounds like the HDMI cable was plugged into another slot and the TV was not slected to recieve input from that other input

or the cable modem was replaced and the codes were not changed so the TV recieves the wif i signal

chances the other TV in the house are not as  new and do not use wifi ?

either way it appears the customer is most likely 100% not familiar in how to operate his own technology and that they should have tried and verified everything operational prior to letting the comcast tech leave the premises..

poster not supplying any info ?

lets say if tv and cable box is on ? and the screen is BLACK and top left it says HDEMI 1  ?

look at back of TV and look to see if cable box is plugged into another input other then HDEMI 1 ?

if not ? simply solution is to turn off cable box and TV wait 2 minutes then unplug HDMI and plug it into HDMI 1 then turn cable box and TV on .... much simpler then trying to teach someone how to change inputs ...

Griffen,

There is a difference between fan noise and excessive fan noise because the fan is failing or has failed. I suspect the bearings are failing or there debris effecring the fan. Relocating the box would not solve the problem.

Fan failures are well known and have been discussed in this forum quite a few times.

Thanks for the input but the weak battery/voice command issue is fairly well known to this forum.

Also, the battery meter in the X1 box menu is known to be wildly inaccurate and really shouldn't be trusted. I have seen remotes misbehave when the meter still shows 50%.

With X1 remotes if they act up you want to try new batteries regardless of what the meter says.
